Laura Morales is a cinematographer and director based in Switzerland. After studying photography at CEPV in Vevey, she began her career as a photographer before turning to cinema.Â
Her short film Les Monts s’embrasent won the Best Swiss Newcomer Award at the Locarno Film Festival in 2015. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in filmmaking from HEAD–Geneva in 2017, followed by a Master’s degree in cinematography from ZHdK in Zurich in 2022. Her work as a cinematographer spans both documentary and fiction, with films screened and awarded at international festivals.
In 2024 she had the chance to shadow Hoyte Van Hoytema through a European Film Awards program.Â
Alongside filmmaking, Laura maintains an active photographic practice. It remains a central part of her creative process, especially analog, in dialogue with painting and drawing. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions, and she has collaborated with clients such as Jaeger LeCoultre, Tissot, Certina, Van Cleef, VIFFF.ch, Comédien.ch, WGR Communication.Â
From 2011 to 2017, Laura Morales co-founded and edited the fanzine Le Dévaloir.
